Precision aerial chemical application
Drone spraying · Canterbury & Christchurch

Steep, wet, or awkward? That's the part we want.

DroneDraft is a CAA-certified drone spray contractor working across Canterbury, Marlborough through South Canterbury. Crop spraying, weed control, topdressing and seeding, in the places a tractor can't reach and a helicopter isn't worth calling.

Irrigators in the way? Broadacre season, and a drone doesn't need a tramline.

DroneDraft's self-contained spray rig and drone launching from a trailer beside a farm paddock

Our fully self-contained rig and drone launch.

Some of it just doesn't suit wheels.

Most farms have a few bits that are more trouble than the rest of the place put together. These are the ones we get called about.

Too steep to walk

Faces, gullies, riverbanks and scrub. Would you carry a spray pack up there? Neither would we.

Too wet to drive

Soft ground where wheels leave ruts, compaction and a mess that outlasts the job.

Something in the way

Irrigators, tramlines, shelter belts, tall crops, and paddocks the wrong shape for a boom.

Nobody wants to climb it

Roofs and glasshouses with moss, mould and lichen, three storeys up and no safe way onto them.

A drone doesn't need a way in. It just needs to know where to go.

Chemical handling

Nobody stands there pouring chemical by hand.

On a drone job the aircraft comes back every few minutes wanting more chemical. Done the usual way that means an operator decanting concentrate over and over, all day, with gloves that come off far sooner than they should.

So we built a machine to do it instead. It draws concentrate straight from the drum through a sealed line, measures every dose, and records what went into your tank. It won a national safety award, and it runs on every job we fly.

What we spray, spread and see

If it needs to be applied from above, or looked at from above, it is probably on this list. If it isn't, ask anyway.

On the farm

  • Blanket / broad acre liquid or granular application
  • Spot and targeted weed spraying
  • Topdressing
  • Seeding
  • Distribution of live mites (biological pest control)
  • Roof treatment (mould / moss / lichen)
  • Glass house roof light control

Seeing what's there

  • Multi-spectral plant vitality inspection
  • 3D mapping, for targeted spraying
  • Aerial photography
  • Aerial videography

Worth knowing before you spend on chemical: we can often map it first, then treat only what actually needs treating.

Around town

  • Roof treatment (e.g. Wet & Forget)
  • Building façade and wall washing, soft or hard
  • School and recreational field treatments
  • Aerial cleaning

What we fly

XAG P100 Pro & P150 Max — purpose-built agricultural spray and spread aircraft for broad acre and precision work.

DJI Mavic series — compact and versatile, for surveying, mapping, photography and videography.

All authorised under operating certificate UAOC104836, valid throughout New Zealand and its territorial waters. Chief Pilot: Anthony Williams (CAA No. 104860).

How we work

You keep your soil

No wheel tracks, no compaction, nothing driven through a standing crop. The paddock looks the same afterwards as it did before.

Only what the job needs

Each load is mixed on demand and measured as it goes in, so you aren't paying for chemical that ends up as leftover nobody can use.

Where you want it, and nowhere else

Mapped and flown to the boundary you agree. Spray goes on the gorse, not the shelter belt, the waterway or the neighbour.

A record of what you got

Every mix is logged automatically with recipe, quantity, date and time. If you ever need to show what went on your land, it exists.

Not sure whether it's a drone job?

That's the normal starting point, and it's an easy question to settle. Tell us what you've got and where it is, and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help or whether something else would suit you better.

When we're working in your area we can often take a look first, map what's there, and give you an idea of what treatment would involve.
